Southwest Air Offers Low Fares With Roundtrip Purchase
DALLAS, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- No one does low fares better. Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) today announced it is putting the country's lowest airfares on sale at just $39 to $99 each way from every Southwest city.
Fares are each way with roundtrip purchase and are available for purchase through July 16 for travel from July 5 through Dec. 8, 2001. Customers can call 1-800-IFLYSWA for these great fares or book online through http://www.southwest.com.
"We're always looking for an opportunity to make the lowest even lower," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's senior vice president of marketing. "With fares as low as $39 each way, Southwest Customers simply cannot afford to stay home."
For example, the $39 each-way fare enables Customers to travel roundtrip between Baltimore/Washington and Cleveland, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, or between Detroit and Chicago Midway. The $99 each-way fare allows travelers to fly roundtrip between Islip/Long Island and New Orleans, Houston Hobby and Buffalo, or between Los Angeles and Kansas City.
The fares are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays and require roundtrip purchase with an any-night stay. Fares will be slightly higher on peak days. Tickets must be purchased at least seven days before departure and within one day of making reservations. Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges of up to $18 roundtrip and a federal tax of $2.75 per takeoff and landing. Tickets are nonrefundable (except for tickets
purchased through Southwest's Group Tickets Program), but unused tickets may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest.
Seats are limited and may not be available on some flights that operate during peak or holiday travel times. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in itinerary could result in an increase in the fare.
Fares are not necessarily common rated in Houston, the Bay Area, or the Los Angeles Basin area. Orange County's John Wayne Airport and Houston's Intercontinental Airport are not included in this sale.
Southwest Airlines, the fourth largest domestic carrier in terms of Customers boarded, currently serves 58 airports in 57 cities in 29 states. Based in Dallas, Southwest currently operates more than 2,750 flights a day with a fleet of 355 Boeing 737s with an average age of 8.2 years -- one of the youngest pure jet fleets in the domestic airline industry.
