"Moose-Lover's" Room Special Celebrates A Prime Wildlife-Viewing Time with 20 Percent Discount on Rooms at Jackson Lake Lodge
Grand Teton Lodge Company has introduced a discounted room rate for late-season visitors. Called the "Moose-Lover's" Room Special, the offer is a special rate of $128 for a standard non-view room at the Jackson Lake Lodge, a savings of more than 20 percent off the regular-season rate of $167. The "Moose-Lover's Room Special will be offered on select dates from August 21 until the lodge closes for the season October 5.
Grand Teton National Park provides visitors the best opportunity to view moose in the continental United States. The National Park Service estimates as many as 350 moose make their home in the 310,000-acre park and the surrounding area.
Powerful bull moose can stand as high as 6½ feet and weigh as much as 1,300 pounds. The largest members of the deer family, moose are known for their distinctive high shoulder hump and the “bell” of skin and hair that hang from the throat. They enjoy willow bottoms, sloughs and beaver ponds and are commonly seen along water courses and forested uplands in warmer months.
Fall is also a good time to view elk as approximately 95,000 elk live in Grand Teton National Park and the surrounding area. Autumn is known as rutting season for elk when the elk mating rituals begins. Bulls compete with each other through high-pitched bugling, posturing and sparring. Dominant males attract females, and the males will preside over harems and mate with several females.
The Moose-Lover's Room Special is available to individuals making a new reservation. Reservations can be made by calling (307) 543-3100.
