Kids Stay and Eat Free at the Westin and Sheraton at Our Lucaya
The Westin and Sheraton at the beautiful Our Lucaya resort on Grand Bahama Island are treating families right this summer. With the new Family Fun package, kids 17 and under stay free and kids 12 and under eat free when accompanied by a parent. Available May 1 - December 20, 2004, the new package, which offers the 5th night free is ideal for families with double occupancy rates that start at $149 at the Sheraton and $189 at the Westin at Our Lucaya for a 5-night minimum stay. (Rates vary depending on dates of travel.) While children enjoy their own fun-filled activities at Camp Lucaya, parents can take time to play golf, relax at the swim up bar or try one of the resort's signature spa treatments.
Families can enjoy non-stop fun at the 372-acre oceanfront Westin and Sheraton at Our Lucaya, which offers a variety of water sports and activities designed just for kids. Located at the Sheraton, the Sugar Mill pool with waterfalls and a tower water slide gives kids a refreshing break from the summer sun.
Seeking to give its young visitors an entertaining cultural experience, Camp Lucaya children's center encourages children to engage in Bahamian activities, including shell and Junkanoo mask painting, coconut crafts, sand sculpture building and straw weaving. Children are entertained by tales of Bahamian folklore and original poetry by camp instructors who teach about the Lucayan Indians -- the island's first settlers -- and lead the kids in native dances such as the quadrille and rake-n-scrape. The art of making island music with goat-skinned drums, conch shells and cowbells is also a popular activity for small guests. Pirate treasure hunts, crazy pool games and mini tennis tournaments are also on the list of popular activities for kids at Camp Lucaya.
Camp Lucaya offers a complimentary kids story line with over 30 stories (ext. 5437 --KIDS). Kids delight in island-inspired activities such as Junkanoo parades, "how low can you go" limbo and native dancing. All kids (age 3-12) receive a welcome bag at check in with a kids club hat and plastic cup. Cups can be taken to any restaurant and will be refilled throughout their stay at no charge.
