Muppets and New Features Launch on Disney Fantasy
Now there are even more characters to love on Disney Cruise Line ships. The Muppets will be heading out on the high seas when Disney's newest ship, the Disney Fantasy, launches in March 2012. In addition to the debut of the Muppets, the ship will offer a number of exciting new features for parents and kids as well. These include the AquaLab, a brand new upper deck water play space and Satellite Falls, an area on deck 13 reserved exclusively for adults.
Families vacationing on the Fantasy will encounter the Muppet characters while playing "The Case of the Stolen Show," an interactive adventure quest that takes participants all around the ship to uncover clues. The adventure starts with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, and more than 20 Muppets preparing for a big stage performance. The Muppets soon find that many of the props for the show have been stolen, however, and need to be recovered immediately in order to launch their show.
More than 20 pieces of Enchanted Art are on display throughout the Disney Fantasy. A number of them are put to use in playing this new Muppet game. Guided by a map, guests hold their unique game card in front of select pieces of Enchanted Art to uncover clues and find the missing props. They can also check a Muppets message board located at another part of the ship to find a Muppet-sized stateroom door and discover more clues. The goal? To make sure the show goes on, of course! Guests must help to identify who took the props and have them returned before it's time to raise the curtain on the Muppets' big show.
"The Case of the Stolen Show" is a self-paced game designed for Fantasy guests ages nine and older. The game can be played alone or with others, making it perfect for families and multigenerational groups. In true Disney style, the game features several possible endings and multiple random events - yielding a different gaming experience each time a guest plays. Disney has perfected similar games in their parks, so this one should be another winner.
The Fantasy's new AquaLab will be another hit with families. Located on Deck 12 near the entrance to the AquaDuck water coaster, this 1,800-square-foot water play area is loaded with pop jets, geysers and bubblers. Every Disney space has a story, and this water play space is themed with Donald Duck's nephews - Huey, Dewey and Louie.
According to the story, the three nephews are conducting a variety of "experiments" and while they're away, the Fantasy's young guests must help take charge of the AquaLab. There's lots of squirting holes and spurting pipes involved, along with some very wacky aqua stations. Bottom line: prepare to get wet! In addition to the AquaLab, another new upper deck area with a wading pool and shaded seating provides guests of all ages with the opportunity to cool off.
While catering to kids and families, Disney Cruise Line also understands adults need their own private areas on the Fantasy. In addition to the Quiet Cove Pool and the Cove Bar found on the Disney Magic, the new ship also includes Satellite Falls on Deck 13. This new retreat for guests 18 and older features a circular splash pool with benches and a gentle "rain curtain" to provide a cool respite from the heat. Here, adult guests can sunbathe on lounge chairs or relax under a canopy in the shade.
