Southwest Airlines HIts the Beach with Low Florida Fares

Some folks just can't get enough of summer, so Southwest Airlines is extending the summer solstice with special fares to Florida. Take the kids on a last hurrah before school starts for as little as $39 each way. Fares are available for purchase through July 16, 2001 for travel Aug. 13 through Sept. 30, 2001.

From the Southeast

Southwest Customers in its Southeast cities of New Orleans, Jackson, Birmingham, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham can escape to Florida for just $39 each way.

From the Northeast

Customers in its Northeast cities of Buffalo, Albany, Long Island/Islip, Manchester, Providence, Hartford/Springfield, and Baltimore/Washington can get away to Florida for just $49 each way.

From the Midwest

Midwest cities of Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Louisville, Detroit, Columbus, and Cleveland can hit the beach in Florida for just $59 each way.

From the Heartland

Southwest's Heartland cities of Albuquerque, Midland/Odessa, Lubbock, Amarillo, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Houston Hobby, and Little Rock can bask in the Florida sun for just $79 each way.

Last, but Not Least ... Florida

Likewise, Southwest Customers in its Florida cities of Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa Bay, West Palm Beach, and Ft. Lauderdale can venture to these great Southwest Airlines destinations for this great savings.

"Florida is one of the hottest travel destinations this summer because it is so affordable," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's senior vice president of marketing. "This is the perfect excuse to take the family on a quick get-away or to turn that business trip into a family vacation."

Fares are listed each-way with roundtrip purchase and require an any-night stay. Tickets must be purchased at least seven days before departure and within one day of making reservations. Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges of up to $18 roundtrip and a federal tax of $2.75 per takeoff and landing. Tickets are nonrefundable (except for tickets purchased through Southwest's Group Tickets Program), but unused tickets may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest.

Seats are limited and may not be available on some flights that operate during peak or holiday travel times. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in itinerary could result in an increase in the fare.

Fares are not necessarily common rated in Houston, the Bay Area, or the Los Angeles Basin area. Orange County's John Wayne Airport and Houston's Intercontinental Airport are not included in this sale.

Southwest Airlines, the fourth largest domestic carrier in terms of Customers boarded, currently serves 58 airports in 57 cities in 29 states. Based in Dallas, Southwest currently operates more than 2,750 flights a day with a fleet of 355 Boeing 737s with an average age of 8.2 years -- one of the youngest pure jet fleets in the domestic airline industry.
