Hertz Customers Get Treated to 'Real-Time' Service at the Airport
PARK RIDGE, N.J., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hertz Corporation and RLM Software, developer of FlightView(R) flight tracking software, have added real-time technology to Hertz' online car rental system. Tracking customer flights using current radar data, FlightView automatically notifies Hertz of a flight's status. Thus, customers providing Hertz with flight details will find their rental car waiting for them, no matter when the plane arrives- early, late or on time.
For Hertz customers, the new real-time technology means no waiting and no hassles when they pick up their rental car. The technology has also enabled Hertz to make operational improvements, including better space and fleet utilization as the accuracy of the estimated time of arrival for each flight allows the company to manage its fleet and prepare rental vehicles in a more timely fashion.

How the Technology Works
FlightView is a real-time flight tracking system that monitors current air traffic and calculates highly-reliable projected arrival times. When a Hertz customer makes a reservation and provides the company with flight number and airline information, the company is able to monitor the data via FlightView. Once the flight is airborne, the Hertz system accesses FlightView to collect status updates and then notifies the Hertz team to prepare the customer's car and paperwork before the flight lands.

The software tracks air traffic in the United States and Canada, including Alaska, Hawaii and inbound overseas flights.
