La Costa Resort And Spa Combines Fun Camps With Great Deals

This summer, La Costa Resort and Spa is making it easy to combine a family vacation with "summer camp." From mid-June through August, La Costa is hosting a wide variety of fun camps that will engage and entertain children, 'tweens, teens and parents. From surf camp to spa camp, there's something for everyone at La Costa's "Playground for all Ages." Details on all the camp listed below can be found at www.lacosta.com/camps.
 
Surf Camp
Kids ages 6 and up and their parents can hang-ten during La Costa's half-day surf camp at nearby Carlsbad State Beach. Surf camp includes transportation, surfboard and wetsuit rental, group surf instruction and a boxed snack. Cost is $120 per person. Camps are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Spa Camp
Young guests ages 13 and up meet at The Spa at La Costa for an introduction to wellness and beauty. This two hour camp will feature a different topic each day including care for hands, appropriate makeup application and care for makeup brushes, teen hairstyles, skin cleansing and analysis, types of massage, hand massage for gamers/texters, spa etiquette, yoga techniques and feng shui for teens. This camp is offered various weekdays throughout July and August. Guests should call concierge for more information and reservations.

Fitness & Nutrition Bootcamp
This is one camp that will keep kids jumping- literally! Kids ages 6 and up meet at La Costa's athletic club to enjoy an hour-and-a-half session that includes fitness activities and nutrition coaching. Young guests will get their hearts pumping with bootcamp-style calisthenics with an emphasis on form and fun. Activities include basic ball skills, jump rope, sprints and relays, games such as tag and kickball, basic tumbling, incline hiking, introduction to strength training, pilates for kids and stretching. The nutrition portion of the camp focuses on healthy choices with topics such as sandwich making, breakfast- the ultimate brain food and kids in the kitchen. Cost is $30 per session. This camp is offered various weekdays throughout July and August. Guests should call concierge for more information and reservations.
 
Golf Camp
Developing a love for golf is the aim of La Costa's summer golf camps.  Kids ages 6-14 are invited to join in for fun, exercise and learning. The camp's golf professional will teach golf skills, golf etiquette, and golf knowledge to prepare the children for a lifetime of enjoyment from the game. Golf camps are offered Monday through Friday beginning June 15 through August 21, 2009. Camps run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Cost is $30 per hour or $375 per week. Each camp requires a four child minimum. Reservations are required no less than four days in advance of the desired camp's start date. La Costa dress code requires no denim and a shirt with a collar. Golf Bootcamp
Golf Bootcamp is for the serious young golfer who wants world class coaching by the leader in young golfer development, Chris Mayson. Chris uses his no-nonsense approach that demands discipline and dedication to get young golfers to play to their potential. Young golfers, who want to play on a school's golf team, or play golf at college, or get golf scholarships, will want to attend this camp. Space is limited, so early sign up is encouraged. Cost is $395 per camp. Camps are offered June 22-26, July 13-17 and August 3-7, 2009 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
 
Beginner Tennis Camp
Beginning tennis players ages 4 and older will follow in the footsteps of tennis greats at La Costa's world-class tennis center. Campers participate in inventive activities that make learning tennis fun. Games are non-competitive, so children have a positive learning environment. Tennis camps are offered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon beginning July 15 through August 14, 2009. Cost is $225 per week. Sign-ups may be restricted for certain age groups depending on the week.
 
Intermediate Tennis Camp
Junior golfers ages 8 and above who are proficient enough to play practice matches will enjoy the afternoon tennis camp. La Costa's experienced tennis pros will cover all aspects of improving match play including: advanced shot skills, shot patterns, strategy, confidence, footwork, and much more. Campers will work hard and have fun. Intermediate tennis camp is offered Monday through Thursday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. beginning July 15 through August 14, 2009. Cost is $150 per week.
 
Baby Camp
Well, maybe not camp, but La Costa is one of the few resort's with a children's program that accepts babies as young as 6 months. Kidtopia, the resort's supervised childcare program, has a special nursery complete with cribs and baby-friendly toys just for them. Children 2 years and under can play at Kidtopia for up to two hours per day, while children 3 and up have the option of staying for a half or full day. With the kids taken care of, mom and dad can escape for fun of their own at the spa, golf or by the pool.
 
Summer Value Family Vacations
This summer, La Costa is offering a variety of online discounts for rooms and suites from 10 to 50 percent off. What's more, families will enjoy a host of freebies including a fourth night with three consecutive paid nights, kids stay free in guestrooms, complimentary smore's making from June 20 to Labor Day, and complimentary welcome bag for children under 12.
 
When not in camp, La Costa has endless options for family fun. For water play, there's Splash Landing, with its three swimming pools and three water slides that offer plenty of twists and turns. Teens and 'tweens can hang out, kick back and make new friends at Vibz - a space just for them that offers all the high-tech games they crave including Wii, X-Box 360, two billiard tables, air hockey, foosball, and ping pong. For a little fun together, families can enjoy Family Yoga in the Chopra Center or go poolside for "Dive-In" movies every summer weekend.
