All aboard the French Lick, West Baden Railroad for a great fall family adventure! All trains depart from the original limestone Monon railroad station depot in French Lick. The 1 3/4 hour excursion takes passengers through 20 miles of Hoosier National Forest, limestone rock-cuts and the 2200-foot Burton Tunnel, one of the longest railroad tunnels in the state.
Trains operate 10am, 1pm and 4pm EST on Saturdays, Sunday & Holidays from April - October; at 1pm every Tuesday from June - October; on weekends in November. Train robberies, which promise great excitement for the kids, occur on September 4, 5 & 6 and October 23 & 24 at 10am, 1pm, and 4pm.
2004 Rates
Fares are $9 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-11. Kids under 3 are free.
Another treat for families is a visit to the Indiana Railway Museum. This site features fascinating railroad equipment from the museum's display, including several diesel and steam locomotives, a rare railway post office car, and a circa-1951 dining car. A Snack Bar Car runs with every train for refreshments.
