The St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway takes its passengers back in time to the days of Civil War battles and Jesse James. Some of the railroad's excursions are powered by "The Shelby Brown" steam engine built in 1946, while others are pulled by a newer diesel train engine. The steam engine rides are unique to the area, as the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway is the region's only steam passenger train. As of this writing, the steam engine is not currently available for use, but if a steam powered train ride is important to you, check back at the website to see if it has become available.
There are themed train trips running this fall, such as the James Gang Western Day. Check the Special Events Schedule for the "Murder Mystery Trains," which lasts for 3 1/2 hours.
