The Mid-continent Railway Museum is a living museum that lets families experience the small town railroad way of life. There are displays of restored passenger cars and freight cars from 100 years ago, as well as an operating train which offers excursions for passengers.
Train trips depart from a historic, restored 1894 Chicago & North Western depot. Passengers take a scenic seven mile, 50-minute round-trip ride on a former branch of the C&NW Railroad. The Baraboo River Valley is beautiful during the fall, and the scenery will be enjoyed by parents and children alike.

Trains leave from the depot at 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm, and 3:30pm on weekends during the fall from May 8th through October 17th and daily from May 17th through September 6th. Special event trips like the Autumn Color, Pumpkin Special, Santa Express, and Snow trains are open during certain days of their respective months. Fares are Adults: $12.00; Children (3-12): $7; Children under 3 are free; seniors (62+): $11. Caboose fare is $14 for adults and $8 for child and cab ride is $28. Adult group rates are $9 per person and child groups are $6 per person, including adult supervisors. Train fares include admission to museum grounds and displays in both the depot and the Coach Shed.
